Ryan Marrero is a 5'8", 170 pound catcher. He has a thick, sturdy frame that can carry more muscle once he's in a college lifting program. Ryan is talented back stop who is a skilled blocker, knocking down anything from box to box. He has caught every inning of his senior season with no passed balls and less than one wild pitch allowed per game. He has a strong arm and has thrown out five runners stealing this season. His arm strength is a deterrent to teams attempting to run. He has just one error all season.
At the plate, he is a solid lefty contact hitter with a good eye. He has a short, compact swing that leads to easy contact. He gets on base at a 38% clip during his senior season against primarily division one and two level pitching. After a slow start to his senior season (1-21), Ryan has come on very strong in the second half of the season with a .333 average in his last ten games. He is able to hit to all fields and has potential to develop the power tool.
Ryan is very coachable and a great leader of a team/pitching staff. He will be an excellent addition to any program as a catcher with upside as a hitter.
